Lakes Region Ice Racing Club
Latchkey Cup

Moultonborough, NH: In 1984 the Lakes Region Ice Racing Club wanted to hold a benefit race that would be an annual event. At that time the race was held on Meredith Bay, which is how the name came about because Meredith is known as the Latchkey to the White Mountains. As time went on the race was moved to Berry Pond, a smaller body of water in Moultonborough. The club members chose to dedicate the event fundraising to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center in Lebanon, NH. Over the next 29 years, the club donated over $227,000.00 to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center. Everyone involved is very proud of this accomplishment. Now the board members and club members have voted to continue the Latchkey Cup tradition, but to donate the money to local communities. After the Latchkey Cup race, the club reaches out to the local communities to see where the greatest needs are for the year's donations. In recent years, donations have been made to local families or individuals battling cancer or medical conditions. The Latchkey earnings have also been used to award local students with scholarships.
The Lakes Region Ice Racing Club reaches out to the Lakes Region community for donations to support this event. The money from this event is cumulated by driver and spectator entry fees, race division sponsors, and ad donations to the Latchkey Cup Ice Times.
The 39-year total is now over $250,000.00 raised. This is a testimony to the fact that the efforts of a community can and do make a difference.
The Lakes Region Ice Racing Club would like to extend their gratitude to everyone for helping us continue with our upcoming 40th Annual Latchkey Cup.

The Latchkey Cup is tentatively set for the last Saturday in January each year, starting at 10:00 am., ice permitting.
